REMEMBER THIS DAY ~JANUARY 3rd, 2007
January 3, 2007 — The day the Democrats took over was not January 22nd 2009, it was actually January 3rd 2007, the day the Democrats took over the House of Representatives and the Senate, at the very start of the 110th Congress. The Democratic Party controlled a majority in both chambers for the first time since the end of the 103rd Congress in 1995.
For those who are listening to the liberals propagating the fallacy that everything is "Bush's Fault", think about this:
January 3rd, 2007, the day the Democrats took over the Senate and the House:
the DOW Jones closed at 12,621.77,
the GDP for the previous quarter was 3.5%,
the Unemployment rate was 4.6%.
George Bush's Economic policies SET A RECORD of 52 STRAIGHT MONTHS of JOB CREATION! Remember that day...
January 3rd, 2007 was the day that Barney Frank took over the House Financial Services Committee and Chris Dodd took over the Senate Banking Committee. The economic meltdown that happened 15 months later was in what part of the economy? BANKING AND FINANCIAL SERVICES!
THANK YOU DEMOCRATS (especially Barney ) for taking us from 13,000 DOW, 3.5 GDP and 4.6% Unemployment...to this CRISIS by (among MANY other things) dumping 5-6 TRILLION dollars of toxic loans on the economy from YOUR Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac FIASCOES!
(BTW: Bush asked Congress 17 TIMES to stop Fannie & Freddie – starting in 2001 because it was financially risky for the US economy). Barney blocked it and called it a "Chicken Little Philosophy" (and the sky did fall!)
And who took the THIRD highest pay-off from Fannie Mae AND Freddie Mac? OBAMA
And who fought against reform of Fannie and Freddie? OBAMA and the Democrat Congress, especially BARNEY!
So when someone tries to blame Bush...
REMEMBER JANUARY 3rd, 2007...
THE DAY THE DEMOCRATS TOOK OVER!
Bush may have been in the car but the Democrats were in charge of the gas pedal and steering wheel – they were driving the economy into the ditch.
Budgets do not come from the White House. They come from Congress and the party that controlled Congress since January 2007 is the Democratic Party.
Furthermore, the Democrats controlled the budget process for 2008 & 2009 as well as 2010 & 2011.
In that first year, they had to contend with George Bush, which caused them to compromise on spending, when Bush somewhat belatedly got tough on spending increases.
For fiscal year 2009 though, Nancy Pelosi & Harry Reid bypassed George Bush entirely, passing continuing resolutions to keep government running until Barack Obama could take office. At that time, they passed a massive omnibus spending bill to complete the 2009 budget.
And where was Barack Obama during this time? He was a member of that very Congress that passed all of these massive spending bills, and he signed the omnibus bill as President to complete 2009. Let's remember what the deficits looked like during that period.
If the Democrats inherited any deficit, it was the 2007 deficit, the last of the Republican budgets. That deficit was the lowest in five years, and the fourth straight decline in deficit spending. After that, Democrats in Congress took control of spending, and that includes Barack Obama, who voted for the budgets.
If Obama inherited anything, he inherited it from himself. In a nutshell, what Obama is saying is "I inherited a deficit that I voted for, and then I voted to expand that deficit four-fold since January 20th."

When You Don’t Feel Beautiful

I stood in the baby aisle at Target, overdue with my first child. Every inch swollen with expectancy. I read labels of diaper ointment and rubbed the foot kicking my side.

Someone stood beside me. I could feel her staring at my profile. I pointed my belly towards her and smiled. She leaned in and said the words like I took her breath away, “Oh, you’re so beautiful.”
I looked down at my too-tight shirt and tugged it over my child. I couldn’t see my feet, but I knew the flesh pressed out of my sandals.
Me? I looked around the empty aisle.
I smiled shyly, smoothing my messy hair. How I longed to hear those words and not just because I was awkward and uncomfortable. I never felt like a beautiful girl. Cute, sometimes pretty, but never beautiful.
And then she tried to sell me Mary Kay.
My face flamed. I dropped the butt paste and turned, leaving my cart and my pride in the baby aisle.
I believed the stranger for a second and then it was back to self-loathing.
I continued to pass mirrors without looking and tried to disappear in a room full of pretty people.
It was years before I believed I was beautiful. It was years before I realized beauty had nothing to do with my complexion or eyebrow shape or latest fashion.
Ralph Waldo Emerson says beauty is an outward gift, but I believe true beauty on the outside begins when we love ourselves on the inside. It is perfected when we love others more than ourselves.
“Beauty is not in the face, beauty is a light in the heart.” -Khalil Gibran
Beautiful isn’t a feeling. It’s His light in our hearts making us glow. When I started taking care of the inside, loving myself, others more, that’s when I started to feel beautiful.
I am getting older: my hair is turning gray, laugh lines (wrinkles) are evident and my once-firm body, isn’t.
But then I remember:
“Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting; but a woman who fears the LORD is to be praised.” Proverbs 31:3
I watch my 12 year old daughter. She is in the discovery stage. She fixes and primps and seeks out beauty in the mirror. I pull her close at night, we read, talk, I pour into her: Beauty on the outside isn’t bad, but what are we doing to make the inside match?
I ran my fingers thru her hair the other night and ask: “Would you rather be gorgeous on the outside and just okay inside or stunning on the inside and okay on the outside?”
She said, “Can I be both?”

I laughed and said yes. But I gave her a challenge. One I want to offer to you:
For every minute, hour you spend primping and beautifying the outside- your hair, clothes, body, etc. I want you spend that same amount of time on the inside.
I reminded her it’s not just about doing good works: it’s putting others first, serving, encouraging and forgiving. Inner beauty comes from accepting our weaknesses and offering them to God. Beauty is seen in being genuine and spending time with God. It’s about who you are when no one is looking. It’s about fearing God.
And now I’m talking to me.
Because odds are I will wake up tomorrow and catch a glimpse in the mirror and wonder if I’m beautiful.
My answer will have nothing to do with my appearance.

LET'S GET OFF OF OUR BUTTS AND GET BACK TO WORK
Hello Again!
It has been several months since I posted anything to my blog due to some very serious health problems. But I can remain silent NO LONGER because we have less than three months to decide whether we are going to continue along OBAMA'S dangerous path to SOCIALISM where everything will be "sunshine and lolly-pops" for everyone, or do we decide we are going to steer the ship upright once again and bring back America to the country that has been the showcase of the free world for over 200 years. Are we going to make sure our children and grandchildren, and for that matter, generations to come are able to enjoy the FREEDOMS and the LIBERTY that our FOUNDING FATHERS intended us to have when they drafted that "out-of-date," (according to our POTUS), GOD INSPIRED CONSTITUTION? If the answer is YES than I suggest we all GET UP OFF OUR BUTTS and GET TO WORK!
Governor Romney has named his running mate, Paul Ryan, an excellent choice as far as I am concerned. So far Obama has waged one of the nasty campaigns I have ever seen in my lifetime! The lies in the television ads thus far have been unconscionable! Accusing Mitt Romney of "murder???" And then of course we have our esteemed Senate Majority Leader, HARRY REID, accusing Romney of paying NO INCOME TAX, because an UN-NAMED SOURCE SAID IT WAS SO! Reid did this on the CONGRESSIONAL FLOOR FOR GOD'S SAKES! HAS HE NO SHAME?? How un-ethical is that? Nice place to be spreading VICIOUS LIES!
IT'S TIME FOR ROMNEY TO CALL OBAMA'S BLUFF! After all, Romney is as squeaky clean as a choir boy! So MITT, how about offering the POTUS a deal. YOUR tax returns, which I have no doubt are clean, for HIS COLLEGE RECORDS! You know, those ones from COLUMBIA and HARVARD? The ones our POTUS has spent MILLIONS to have BURIED? He MUST be hiding something much worse than BAD GRADES! Nobody even remembers him from his graduating class! HOW WEIRD IS THAT? Could it be that he was a FOREIGN EXCHANGE STUDENT AND THEREFORE NOT EVEN ELIGIBLE TO BE POTUS! And what about a REAL LIVE CERTIFICATE OF BIRTH, not that COMPUTER GENERATED DOCUMENT that anyone could replicate on their own home computer?
Now for US, yeah YOU and ME! WE NEED TO WAKE UP OUR YOUTH! THE YOUTH CAN CHANGE THE WHOLE ELECTION JUST BY THE WAY THEY VOTE AND BY SHOWING UP TO VOTE! With PAUL RYAN being tapped for the vice-presidency we should be able to help the youth identify a little more since he is closer to their age. RYAN'S BUDGET PLAN will HELP THEM because it keeps MEDICARE solvent and available for THEM in their later years when they will need it themselves. It SAVES MEDICARE for their grandparents, only making changes to those who are UNDER 55! For those UNDER 55 it sets up "medical trust funds" that they will have MORE CONTROL OVER! After all, the government has RAIDED the SOCIAL SECURITY and MEDICARE "LOCK BOX," (that's a joke by the way!),to the point that if we DO NOTHING, it will be TOTALLY INSOLVENT by 2030,(or sooner!) Under OBAMACARE, MEDICARE has been STRIPPED of 75 BILLION DOLLARS! If left UN-REPEALED their grandparents will SUFFER and it will be GONE TOTALLY when THEY NEED IT! THEY will be left with a country that resembles more that of RUSSIA or COMMUNIST CHINA where the Government will decide how much money, $$$, they should be allowed to make, who lives or dies according to their specific health conditions and what their contribution to society will be, and they will find themselves on "THE ROAD TO SERFDOM!"

BIRTH CONTROL IS A VIRTUE????
THIS WOMAN' LETTER WAS IN THE "NORTH COUNTY TIMES" NEWSPAPER ~ As I read "Margaret McCown Liles" letter from February 23rd, I wondered if she knew what the word VIRTUE meant. I decded maybe I should refresh her memory.
According to the "WEBSTER'S 1913 DICTIONARY"
VIRTUE: power; manly strength or courage; moral excellence; bravery; daring spirit; valor; energy; strength; integrity of character; chastity; purity; virginity
Could you please tell me how you can define BIRTH CONTROL as a VIRTUE? Do you consider "power," "manly strength," or is perhaps "courage," is what it takes to KILL AN UNBORN CHILD? Because when I was taught SEX 101 in junior high school I learned that every month my uterus released an EGG and that EGG was a BABY waiting to be fertilized and by using BIRTH CONTROL I was taking away that BABY'S chance at LIFE!
Doesn't sound too much like"moral excellence," or "integrity of character," to me! I believe the TEN COMMANDMENTS says "THOU SHALL NOT KILL." Maybe VIRTUE wasn't exactly the word you were lookin' for? I'm just saying.

FAST and FURIOUS! WHERE WILL IT END? HOW HIGH UP WILL IT GO?

HOW HIGH UP WILL IT GO?
Last week I met a dear friend of mine for breakfast. Jim is 83 years old and quite the American patriot as well as a REAL, LIVE, AMERICAN HERO! He started his service at the end of World WarII, was at Pearl Harbor, fought in the Korean War, did his time in Vietnam, retired from the Seabees, became a United States Border Patrol Agent, from which he retired at the age of 65, and he is STILL GOING STRONG! Jim and I became friends about two years ago after I left my business card and a cross, with the American flag embedded into it, stuck in his car door. I had passed by his truck about ten times that day while I was going between doctor's appointments in my electric wheelchair. His truck had caught my eye because of all of the anti- Obama bumper stickers on it! It was covered with all kinds of stickers including many pro-gun, pro Second Amendment, and American flags of all different sizes, I'm sure you get my drift! After about the tenth time of flying past his truck, and seeing it was still there after five hours, I decided if I came out of my last appointment and it was still there I would leave my calling card! I caught my bus home and barely got in the door just in time to hear my phone ringing. When I answered it Jim was on the other end wanting to know if I was "the young lady who left the beautiful cross on my truck?" And so a wonderful friendship began.
I have given you Jim's background so you will understand that he KNOWS what he is talking about. Our conversation last week centered around the FAST and FURIOUS scandal playing out in Washington, D.C. Atty. General Eric Holder had been testifying once again, (or should I say, LYING!), to Congress. I asked Jim what his thoughts were on the situation, knowing that he had served many years in the U.S. Border Patrol. He was adamant when he told me there was absolutely NO WAY that a project of this size and scope could not be traced back all of the way to top! (AND HE MEANT THE WHITE HOUSE!) He said it was CRIMINAL that all they had done in the way of reprimands was to shuffle a few people around in the system, no one had been fired, and so far, NO HEADS HAD ROLLED! He expressed his sorrow to Officer Brian Terry's family, and said it was sad that they had to see TAX PAYERS MONEY still being paid to all of the persons responsible for their son's death.
In light of my conversation with Jim, I am asking everyone to join me in calling for the RESIGNATION of Atty General Eric Holder IMMEDIATELY! I would like to thank Congressman DARRYL ISSA for sticking to his guns and not letting this EMBARRASSING DISASTER JUST "GO AWAY" as I am sure the OBAMA ADMINISTRATION would LOVE to see! (especially since the administration never wanted this "show of stupidity" to see the light of day in the first place!)
Once again, KUDOS to CONGRESSMAN ISSA, for continuing to push for the TRUTH!

Victims speak out about North Carolina sterilization program, which targeted women, young girls and blacks

Elaine Riddick was 13 years old when she got pregnant after being raped by a neighbor in Winfall, N.C., in 1967. The state ordered that immediately after giving birth, she should be sterilized. Doctors cut and tied off her fallopian tubes.
“I have to carry these scars with me. I have to live with this for the rest of my life,” she said.
Riddick was never told what was happening. “Got to the hospital and they put me in a room and that’s all I remember, that’s all I remember,” she said. “When I woke up, I woke up with bandages on my stomach.”
Riddick’s records reveal that a five-person state eugenics board in Raleigh had approved a recommendation that she be sterilized. The records label Riddick as “feebleminded” and “promiscuous.” They said her schoolwork was poor and that she “does not get along well with others.”
“I was raped by a perpetrator [who was never charged] and then I was raped by the state of North Carolina. They took something from me both times,” she said. “The state of North Carolina, they took something so dearly from me, something that was God given.”

It wouldn’t be until Riddick was 19, married and wanting more children, that she’d learn she was incapable of having any more babies. A doctor in New York where she was living at the time told her that she’d been sterilized.
“Butchered. The doctor used that word… I didn’t understand what she meant when she said I had been butchered,” Riddick said.
North Carolina was one of 31 states to have a government run eugenics program. By the 1960s, tens of thousands of Americans were sterilized as a result of these programs.
Eugenics was a scientific theory that grew in popularity during the 1920s. Eugenicists believed that poverty, promiscuity and alcoholism were traits that were inherited. To eliminate those society ills and improve society’s gene pool, proponents of the theory argued that those that exhibited the traits should be sterilized. Some of America’s wealthiest citizens of the time were eugenicists including Dr. Clarence Gamble of the Procter and Gamble fortune and James Hanes of the hosiery company. Hanes helped found the Human Betterment League which promoted the cause of eugenicists.
It began as a way to control welfare spending on poor white women and men, but over time, North Carolina shifted focus, targeting more women and more blacks than whites. A third of the sterilizations performed in North Carolina were done on girls under the age of 18. Some were as young as nine years old.
For the past eight years, North Carolina lawmakers have been working to find a way to compensate those involuntarily sterilized in the state between 1929 and 1974. During that time period, 7,600 people were sterilized in North Carolina. Of those who were sterilized, 85 percent of the victims were female and 40 percent were non-white.
“You can’t rewind a watch or rewrite history. You just have to go forward and that’s what we’re trying to do in North Carolina,” said Governor Beverly Perdue in an exclusive interview with NBC News.
While North Carolina’s eugenics board was disbanded in 1977, the law allowing involuntary sterilization wasn’t officially repealed until 2003. In 2002, the state issued an apology to those who had been sterilized, but the victims have yet to receive any financial compensation, medical care or counseling from the state. Since 2003, three task forces have been created to determine a way to compensate the victims. Officials estimate that as many as 2,000 victims are still alive.
Riddick was one of several victims to speak at a public hearing this summer. It was the first time that many survivors had told their stories publicly and that others heard of North Carolina’s tarnished past.
“To think about folks who went in…and their doctor told them this was birth control and they were sterilized…the folks who didn’t have the capacity to make the decisions, the uninformed consent,” said Perdue. “Those types of stories aren’t good for America and I can’t allow for this period in history to be forgotten, that’s why this work is important.”
Only 48 victims have been matched with their records, something necessary for them to eventually be compensated. State Representative Larry Womble has been advocating for the survivors of the state’s sterilization program for nearly 10 years. He helped fight for the repeal of the state’s law.
Womble said that if the government is “powerful enough to perpetrate this on this society, they ought to be responsible, step up to the plate and compensate.”
In August, a task force created by Gov. Perdue recommended that the victims be compensated, but they were unsure how much to award the victims. Previous numbers pondered range between $20,000 and $50,000. The task force also recommended mental health services for living victims and a traveling museum exhibit about North Carolina’s eugenics program.
Perdue said it’s a challenge to determine how much money each victim should be given.
“From my perspective, and as a woman, and as the governor of this state, this is not about the money. There isn’t enough money in the world to pay these people for what has been done to them, but money is part of the equation,” she said.
Riddick once sued North Carolina for a million dollars. Her case made it all the way to the Supreme Court of the United States, but the court declined to hear the case. “I would like for the state of North Carolina to right what they wronged with me,” she said.
Some victims and their advocates have questioned whether North Carolina is procrastinating in compensating them, hoping they’ll die before a solution is reached. “It’s an ugly chapter in North Carolina’s book, we have a wonderful book, but there’s an ugly chapter,” Womble said. “We must step up to the plate and we must realize and take responsibility.”
Perdue, for her part, said that she is committed to helping the victims.
“I want this solved on my watch. I want there to be completion. I want the whole discussion to end and there be action for these folks. There is nobody in North Carolina who is waiting for anybody to die,” Gov. Perdue said.
Despite the state social workers who declared Riddick was “mentally retarded” and “promiscuous”, she went to college and raised the son born moments before she was sterilized. Her son is devoted to his mother and a successful entrepreneur.
Elaine is proud of her achievements.
“I don’t know where I would be if I listened to the state of North Carolina,” she said.
