I have a 9 month old grandson and a nine year old granddaughter that I love dearly and I only want the best of everything for the two of them. It only seems natural to me that one of my biggest concerns for them would be a good education. After all, I was fortunate enough to have been in school back in the "good 'ole days" when we actually got an education in the public school system, unlike today. Now days it seems the teachers are more interested in seeing the students "get in touch with their feelings." Basic reading, writing, and arithmetic have taken a back seat to sex education and psycho-social programs.
Last week I happened to be at two different meetings where Steve Baldwin, a former California State Legislator was a guest speaker. Steve is currently the executive director of the Council for National Policy (CNP). He had a lot to say about the sad state of affairs that our public schools are in. He served on the education commitee while he was in the Legislature and he heard from parents and students alike who had complaints about their particular districts. Steve along with Karen Holgate put together a book which is a compilation of stories and letters they recieved from parents, students, and teachers telling absolute horror stories they had personally experienced in the public school system.
The book is titled, "FROM CRAYONS to CONDOMS, The Ugly Truth About America's Public Schools." I, myself, had a hard time putting it down and I highly recommend it to every parent!
Actually I found myself getting angrier and angrier the more I read. There are stories about sex education, "death" education, "heart talks," games encouraging young children to talk about personal family matters, and the list goes on.
I was shocked, (not really!), to read about how much Islamic culture and religion are being taught, even to the extent of "mid-day prayers!" THIS IS AMERICA!!! WE ARE A COUNTRY FOUNDED ON JUDEO-CHRISTIAN VALUES! THE FOUNDING FATHERS MUST BE ROLLING OVER IN THEIR GRAVES! MADELIN O'HARE WON A LAWSUIT BACK IN 1963 TO REMOVE "THE LORD'S PRAYER" FROM PUBLIC SCHOOLS~it was ruled un-constitutional, AND NOW WE ARE BEING HIJACKED INTO ALLOWING THIS "ISLAMIC" CRAP?? GIVE ME A BREAK!!
MULTICULTURISM~NOW THERE IS A NEW 'BUZZ WORD!" IN NORTH SAN DIEGO COUNTY, ESCONDIDO TO BE EXACT, OUR POPULATION RATIO IS NOW 50 PERCENT HISPANIC. WE HAVE A RELATIVELY NEW SCHOOL IN THE NORTHEAST PART OF TOWN THAT HAS REALLY "PUSHED THE ENVELOPE" AS FAR AS I AM CONCERNED. AT THE FRONT ENTRANCE TO THE SCHOOL, IN BOLD LETTERS, READS THE WORDS, "BIEN VENIDOS." EXCUSE ME???!! NO WONDER THESE ELEMENTARY SCHOOL KIDS COME OUT OF GRAMMAR SCHOOL UNABLE TO SPEAK ENGLISH! YOUR TAX DOLLARS ARE PAYING FOR THIS SCHOOL AS WELL AS ALL OF THE OTHERS IN CALIFORNIA!!
AS I READ THROUGH SOME OF THE LETTERS WRITTEN I CAME ACROSS ONE FROM A SUBSTITUTE TEACHER, god bless her, AND SHE TALKED ABOUT HER EXPERIENCE TEACHING AND LECTURING IN SOME OF THE ELEMENTARY, MIDDLE AND HIGH SCHOOLS IN HER COUNTY. SHE HAD STORIES ABOUT HISPANIC STUDENTS DEMONSTRATING AGAINST A STATEWIDE BALLOT INITIATIVE DURING A HOMECOMING PARADE! THEY MARCHED WITH THEIR MEXICAN FLAG AND SCREAMED OBSCENITIES AGAINST THE UNITED STATES!
SHE HEARD FROM HISPANIC STUDENTS IN THE FIFTH AND SIXTH GRADE WHO FELT MEXICO WAS A BETTER COUNTRY THAN THE UNITED STATES! NOT ONLY DID THEY DENOUNCE THE UNITED STATES, THEY DENOUNCED OUR FLAG, OUR GOVERNMENT, OUR HISTORY, OUR FREE ENTERPRISE SYSTEM, AND THE IDEA THAT THEY NEEDED TO TAKE PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITY FOR THE PRIVILEGE OF LIVING IN A FREE REPUBLIC. (there's that sense of entitlement again!).
THIS BOOK, CRAYONS TO CONDOMS, TALKS ABOUT CREATIVE SPELLING??~NO PHONICS!, NEW MATH~MEMORIZATION OF MULTIPLICATION TABLES NO LONGER NEEDED?? SO NOW WE HAVE KIDS GRADUATING FROM HIGH SCHOOL THAT CAN'T SPELL AND IF THE COMPUTERS GO DOWN THEY WON'T BE ABLE TO MAKE CHANGE, LET ALONE COUNT CHANGE BACK AFTER A TRANSACTION!
MANY OF THE SCHOOL TEXTBOOKS HAVE RE-WRITTEN THE CONSTITUTIONOR REMOVED IT COMPLETELY! AND THEN WE WONDER WHY THE KIDS TODAY HAVE NO RESPECT FOR THE UNITED STATES. REMEMBER WHEN WE MEMORIZED THE PREAMBLE TO THE CONSTITUTION AND THE GETTYSBURG ADDRESS?? WHATEVER HAPPENED TO THE DECLARATION OF INDEPENDENCE, HOW ABOUT THE FOUNDING FATHERS?? BUT BOY THEY SURE CAN THEY TELL YOU WHEN THEIR RIGHTS ARE BEING TRAMPLED ON! THEY CAN ALSO TELL YOU WHAT THEY FEEL THE GOVERNMENT OWES THEM!
PARDON THE EXPRESSION, BUT OUR FUTURE GENERATIONS ARE GONNA BE SCREWED!!
