This week the CONGRESSIONAL BUDGET OFFICE, (CBO), came out with initial cost estimates for the proposed "BAUCUS" Health Care Package and, to the delight of all the liberal democrats, it would be "deficit neutral" to the tune of only $289 Billion over a ten year period and would supposedly reduce the deficit by $81 Billion over the same ten years. Herein lies the problems to all of this "good" news.
The CBO has arrived at these figures by including $404 Billion worth of cuts to MEDICARE. In effect this would eliminate the MEDICARE ADVANTAGE PROGRAM used by millions of seniors who count on this very program to close the gap in their present coverage saving them thousands of dollars. It would still leave about 24 million people uninsured. It would tax people who refused to carry their own health care insurance. WHERE IN THE CONSTITUTION DOES IT SAY A PERSON HAS TO HAVE HEALTH INSURANCE?
To coin a phrase by DICK MORRIS, author of the best selling book, CATASTROPHE, it would also "tax the sick," meaning the deduction you are allowed for medical bills on your tax return would be raised from 7.5% to 10%, causing the already cash strapped and sick individual to pay an additional $600 per year.
All medical appliances would also carry a new tax. New mothers who purchase a breast pump to express their milk for future use would have to pay a stiff tax on top of all of the other expenses that come along with a new born. A person who is on oxygen would pay a medical appliance tax. Pap tests would also include a tax. These are just a few of the many medical appliances people use everyday.
Madame Speaker, Nancy Pelosi, is once again bringing up a VAT Tax or Value Added Tax. This is a tax that would be added to virtually everything we purchase and any service we might receive. A gallon of milk would be taxed along with any other food product we may buy. Even a loaf of bread would not escape from being taxed. Now remember, "no one making under $200,000 a year would see an increase in their taxes. Let me repeat that, no one making under $200,000 a year would see an increase in their taxes under my administration!" Remember that? Do you, say an auto worker, buy milk or bread? GUESS WHAT? THIS IS A TAX. As far as services that would be taxed let's say for instance, your haircut, your dog groomer, even your vet, would not escape. The average person, not just a millionaire, will be paying ANOTHER TAX!!! GEE, IS THIS ANOTHER BROKEN CAMPAIGN PROMISE?!!
The one thing Democrats refuse to include is TORT REFORM. Why is that? Could it have something to do with the fact that Trial Attorney's are the biggest contributors to their party? Naaaaaaah! Now I am a firm believer in holding a hospital or doctor for that matter, accountable for negligence. However, when say a heart surgeon has to do thousands of dollars worth of unnecessary tests just for the sake of CYA because of never ending frivolous lawsuits then there is a big problem. The doctors are paying outrageous malpractice insurance premiums and guess who picks up that cost? Not only do you as a patient pay for the extra tests but you pay higher costs for something as simple as an office visit.
The Dem's have also left out interstate insurance purchases. Some states have only 2 or 3 insurance companies to choose from. If we had the opportunity to price shop for health insurance the way we do for auto insurance then competition would cause prices to go down. I think that's suppose to happen in a "FREE ENTERPRISE SYSTEM!" But that SYSTEM will disappear with a Government Option added to this health care bill. The Government will under cut the Private Insurance Companies and being unable to compete they will be forced out of business. Then everyone will be forced into the Government Option and the Powers That Be will have us right where they want us. On a straight path to SOCIALISM!
WE HAVE TO REMAIN VIGILANT IN OUR EFFORT TO DEFEAT THIS BILL! TELL CONGRESS 85% OF US LIKE OUR HEALTH INSURANCE, WANT TO KEEP OUR DOCTOR'S, DO NOT WANT SOCIALIZED MEDICINE AND IF YOU ARE A SENIOR TELL THEM TO LEAVE YOUR MEDICARE ALONE! WE ARE NOT STUPID! WE SEE RATIONING COMING! WE KNOW THAT 41% OF DOCTORS ARE CONSIDERING RETIRING IF THIS BILL PASSES! WE KNOW THAT CURRENT MEDICAL STUDENTS WON'T BOTHER FINISHING SCHOOL BECAUSE THERE ARE NO INCENTIVES FOR THEM TO DO SO! WE DON'T WANT TO WAIT FOR A YEAR FOR A LIFE SAVING TEST OR TREATMENT! AS A YOUNG SENIOR WITH A CHRONIC MEDICAL CONDITION, I DON'T WANT TO BE TOLD I AM TOO EXPENSIVE OR TOO OLD TO BE WORTHY OF SAVING!
DON'T LET HARRY REID AND NANCY PELOSI RAM THIS DOWN OUR THROATS! RECONCILIATION SHOULD NOT EVEN BE AN OPTION! LET YOUR VOICE BE HEARD! DO NOT LET UP ON YOUR REPRESENTATIVES! CALL OR E- MAIL BEFORE IT'S TOO LATE1
P.S. FUNNY THIS BILL WON'T TAKE EFFECT UNTIL 2013! GUESS WHO WILL NO LONGER BE IN OFFICE?!!!!!
