Week 4 and Dusty is getting younger by the day! When we first began this treatment I must admit I was pretty scared. You hear about men having heart attacks after taking VIAGRA and then having a "romp in the hay!" I knew Dusty had serious lung problems and an enlarged heart, but the thought of losing her was just too much for me to handle. So when the vet prescribed VIAGRA I was apprehensive but I knew I had to try everything possible for her sake so she could be comfortable. The results so far have been better than I ever expected.
At the beginning of this odyssey Dusty was sleeping day and night. Now I understand that is what most dogs do. However, we would have to drag her out of the house just to take her for a walk and when she came back in after only 10 minutes she was would be panting heavily for over an hour. She had not picked up her ball in months. From the time Dusty was a puppy she had greeted us with the ball in her mouth when we walked in the door after being away. During the day she laid with it safe in her mouth just waiting for someone to play with her. When she walked, her tail was always up and wagging but that had all stopped.
I am so excited to report that Dusty is back to her old self. Now she barks anxiously when she wants to go out. When she returns she isn't so winded that I have to wonder if she is on her last breath. When she gets someone to play ball with her she runs so fast through the hall that sometimes she can't stop herself before she hits a wall! But the funniest thing of all is the fact she is showing signs of being "frisky!" She is a female so she isn't attacking anybodies legs but there are other signs that make her look like she is definitely in the "mood" for a little "puppy love!"
