9-11-2001

I sit here on the eve of September 11, 2009 thinking about an awful day 8 years ago. I remember watching as the second tower was hit. My ex had called me from work and woke me to tell me to turn on the television immediately because a jetliner had just flown into one of the Twin Towers in New York. I remember watching as the south tower was hit. It was 9:59 in the morning. The North tower had already begun to crumble from the top down. I saw people jumping to their death, some hand in hand. 56 minutes after the south tower was hit it tumbled to the ground. As I sat in my bed tears streamed down my face and I knew life as we knew it in the U.S.A. would never be the same. Then the news said the Pentagon had been hit. WHAT WAS HAPPENING! I knew we were under attack! I said a very long prayer that God would get us through it all and to PLEASE open his arms to all of the people that would perish that day. I watched as the cameras followed people running through the streets- running for their very lives!
Then I heard of the third plane on the way possibly to the White House or the Capitol that had gone down in a field in Pennsylvania. Passengers on UNITED FLIGHT #93 had over taken the terrorists on their own, knowing what their fate would eventualy be and pointed the plane towards the field where all of the people on board were mercifully sent to their death quickly. Before #93 went down, people with cell phones had contacted loved ones to say a final good- bye. One man called Verizon and spoke to an operator and the two of them began to pray. He asked the operator to tell his wife and two small children that he loved them. One person had phoned home and described what was happening minute by minute and that they were aware of their impending fate.
It is almost midnight 2009. The WORLD TRADE CENTER. bombing took place 8 years previous to 9-11. I have to say I feel very apprehensive knowing we still have many enemies in this world who hate us and have made our destruction their agenda. I ask myself, "Do we have an administration that is able to keep our country safe?" I cannot say with certainty that I am confident some in Washington really have only OUR best interests at heart. It makes me ill to think I am that skeptical of our Leaders. I pray that we have nothing to worry about in regards to their loyaty for our country.
Please take the time today to remember this historical date and the many men and women who lost their lives on that fateful day. Say a prayer for all of the fallen firefighters and other emergency personnel who did their job magnificently to try and guide the many victims to safety. PEACE BE WITH YOU ALL-GOD BLESS YOU AND GOD BLESS AMERICA!!!!
