Only The Good Die Young!

I was sitting with my father watching tv the first time I ever saw Patrick Swayze in a movie. The movie was not as well known as some of his others but it is one that has stayed with me forever. I'm talking about the movie "RED DAWN." The movie was about a group of young kids who found themselves all alone and fighting to save the USA from a communist takeover. To their knowledge they were the only "hold-outs" left over from the old world and they were determined to save the country. It paralleled what is happening today, in that we are fighting what I see as a blatant attempt to slowly begin "Socializing" our nation. Funny how this movie never got the same publicity as his later films did. Could it have had something to do with the fact that Hollywood is really not in the habit of standing up for what this nation has always been about?
We lost not only a great actor today but we lost a great person. Patrick Swayze"s name was not constantly in the news for being obnoxious, or rude, for abusing women, or even for driving under the influence. He had a beautiful wife who was always by his side and as far as I knew he always treated her with the utmost respect. He fought a brave battle with pancreatic cancer and even starred in a series called "The Beast" all the way until his final days. He didn't give up. He was inspirational to other victims of cancer even at the end, sharing the story of his valiant fight with the disease and giving his precious time for a benefit to raise money for research.
Rest in Peace my friend, knowing you brought great joy to your many fans. I know myself, as well as many others will miss you.
